This stick is decent for the price, but it certainly has its problems. It's more a matter of getting what you pay for, but I'll get to that later.
Certain features work as advertised. The lock/unlock switch is nice, but you have to do some wild mashing to hit that guide button, as it's pretty far removed from the stick and buttons. I've never had to use this feature, but it's nice if you mash it out to a serious degree. I personally haven't used the turbo-function, as using turbo anything is typically frowned upon. The stick is also pretty weighty. They aren't joking when they say that the Brawl stick sports a "heavy metal base." For the casual gamer or someone looking to buy a starter fight stick, this is an excellent value for the price.
The controller itself feels solid, and the combination of rubber feet and weight from the metal base will keep it from sliding around while playing. My only complaint here is that if you play with it in your lap you may find some of the edges to be a little sharp, but not overly so.
The control stick and buttons are well positioned, and the location of the start and select buttons on the upper edge is a great addition to keep them from inadvertently being pressed during frantic play. I did find the buttons to be rather sensitive at first, but I do think some of that was simply making the adjustment from the regular hand-held controller.
One bonus is that this stick is fairly simple to upgrade to a tournament quality fight stick by purchasing arcade quality replacement parts and following any of the easily found directions online. You can also...Read more
