What a rip for a few steel parts. The thermal compound is really runny and cheap Chinese stuff. Just get basic X-clamp replacement and avoid this whole uniclamp thing.

It does take a minimal amount of drilling the metal casing, but it is only to widen the eight holes that allow the bolts through to the heat sinks. Other than that, it is extremely user-friendly and if you already have a drill and bit set, you are ready to rock and roll. I just did the Hybrid Extreme Uniclamp fix about 4 days ago and my XBox has been running great ever since! No more RRoD. I had previously used the penny fix and patched or masked the problem for about 2-3 months, but about 3 weeks ago the RRoD error was back and unwilling to be brushed off so easily. I gave this box one last chance before spending the $200 on a new XBox (which was starting to sound really good), but i'm glad I spent the $20 bucks instead to save this one. Do yourself a favor and spend 1/10th of the price to keep your current machine. It really does address some of the glaring original engineering problems and makes sense as to why it helps fix the box. 5 Stars, highly recommend for the price.

When I bought it from my friend I was not told, then it had red ringed before, and someone tried to fix it already. Basically i was using the uniclamp to fix an xbox that used a similar technique. The thermal paste did not help it as well. I think the heat gun will save this old xbox, but i got another xbox 360 untouched for cheap so I probably won't heat gun it. Anyway remember to get the history of any older xbox you get, because you never know if it may have been tried to be fixed already. Look at most of the ones on ebay, most of those have had been repaired anyway.
You are better off with the newest model in all honesty. This method will work if you have an untouch xbox.If you have a pre fixed xbox 360, then you may have to heatgun it. Also, this product is somewhat expensive since most of the parts you can get at hardware stores.
