The first thing I should note here is that it is powered by the near USB, thus eliminating the potential of damaging your product. It has been well documented that the Nyko Intercooler has bricked many a system due to being placed between the console and the powersupply. So USB is definitely the way to go. For users whom are gaming through the 360 wireless adaptor, don't fret. While The Cooler does use the rear USB, it also has a thru-port hub, thus allowing you to use both the wireless adaptor and The Cooler at the same time. The unit rests underneath the 360, and if you lay your 360 on it's side instead of vertical, it has tabs on either side of the cooler so that it can be mounted either way. Once powered, you can feel a cool chill of air rushing out of your 360's vents. While it is only one fan (compared to Nyko's 3 fans), I...Read more 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By = Fun: This review is from: Xbox 360 Cooler (Video Game) I ordered this game due to Lost planet freezing my 360. it had room to breathe so i figured it must be due to lack of airflow. After the reviews of the intercooler, and the fact that my 360 sets sideways, this looked like a good choice. Ordered it, set it onto the end of the 360, and hit the LED powered button. This thing works great. Keeps the lower end of the 360 cooler, and makes almost no noise. The only real downside is it doesn't snap onto the 360, but its a small complaint. Instead the Pelican cooler connects to the 360 through a USB port and your XBox 360 either rests on top of it (if you keep the unit in the vertical position) or...well, I'm not sure how it's supposed to mount if you keep your 360 horizontal. That, in fact, is my biggest problem with this product. I keep my 360 horizontal, and using this cooler with it is awkward at best. Let me explain. This cooler doesn't mount or actually connect to your 360 in any way--instead your XBox rests on top of it and gravity keeps it in place. Not so if you lay the 360 on its side. There are a couple of plastic tabs, and you can rest your 360 on one of them and keep the cooler more or less attached to the unit, but I didn't want to do this because my 360 didn't quite lie flat with the plastic tab underneath it. It may seem unreasonable to complain about this since it seems to work okay if...Read more |
