Say Hello to the Big Balls

For those of you who ever watched Wipeout, the crazy obstacle course game show on ABC, and thought, "I want to do that, but without the mud, injuries, or public humiliation," now you can with Wipeout: in the Zone exclusively for Xbox 360. A unique use of Kinect technology, in Wipeout: in the Zone players jump across more than 50 obstacles, including the Big Balls and the Smack Wall Sweeper. The game also features commentary from the TV show's hosts: John Anderson, John Henson and Jill Wagner.

Got Wipeout and got home to play with my 6 year old and wife. We all signed in and we played through an episode. WOW! Lots of fun and laughs. Even replays funny shots/hits to the avatar.

Second game, new level. Hmmm. I'm signed in but wife and son have to register again even though we picked play again. Haha, the replays are funny but a lot.

Thrid game, new level. Wife didn't want to play but son had to reregister again. Really?!! Man the replays are a lot and getting on my nervers. Found in options you can turn off. That's better.

Overall it's good family fun and is a party game. I've played through all the levels and think a few things are missing.

1 - Would like to set funny hits/replays to be after an episode or calibrate to not be as much. It's all or nothing.

2 - Would like the replay level option to keep everyone registered and allow you to remove players as needed.

3 - Would like a build your own course...Read more

As a owner of the Wii edition, I am glad they finally put it on Kinect, it was soo worth the wait. I like being interactive in the game; with the bonus of a workout. It looks easy on TV but you have no idea until you are actually running the course. Plus it was only $35 at Toys R Us :)

Just like with most games you have to unlock additional courses, this game also has a practice and multi-player. Good family fun, it did not disappoint. Of course I wiped out several times.

First of all I want you the reader to know that i like the show "Wipeout", it's similiar to MXC which i love, so i'm not a wipeout hater. This game however is a pile of dook, let me tell you why. The whole idea of kinect is to make the player feel immersed in the game, YOU are the controller etc. I played this game with a 7 year and he was getting so frustrated with the delayed unresponsive controls. At first i thought he was having a tough time because he was a youngster, but then i tried and immediately understood his frustration, the controls and delay are unacceptable. There is a good one second delay between your movements and the character actually moving onscreen. Now, in a game where your timing is crucial, this is a HUGE problem. You have to jump a good second before your obstacle to enjoy any success.

My other major gripe with this game, the controls, really bring my piss to a boil. Kinect is supposed to track your movements and make you feel like your...Read more
