Comment: ...you can go to Newegg and pick up 4 mouse pads for 4 bucks (they have red and blue, not so sure about yellow or green -- just buy 2 black ones for those), cut them out using a coffee can as a template (the color ring will still show), and duct tape them to your drums. I'm not sure if these come in 4-packs (no mention in description), but even at 15 bucks these seem like a ripoff. I know my method seems like a really low-budget idea, but these things are esssentially just felt-backed stickers. The soft THUD sounds so much better than the plastic-y CRACK.

Drumshhh Full-Size Multi-Color Drum Pads for Rock Band
I cannot say enough great things about these drum pads. Not only do they dampen the sound (my neighbors are still thanking me for that one) and cover up the ugly gray pads that come standard with the Rock Band drum set, but they actually help you play better. Again, and I'm not exaggerating, they actually help improve your skills as a virtual drummer. I noticed the instant I started playing with them that my sticks were bouncing back with better rhythm, which let me play rolls and fills I had never been able to play through before. I would recommend checking out their site, too. They offer a bunch of styles and designs if you're willing to pay a little extra (I went with the bullseye design). Either way, these pads are the most useful video game accessory I've ever bought, hands down.

Summary: Should I buy them or should I not 2008-05-23
Comment: The pads work very well. They don't silence the drum pads but there is a very noticeable difference with them on. The one thing I was worried about was the gameplay being affected but the drum set responded normally. I think I actually played better because I could hear more of the song!!
Now the only question of course is how long will they last. They seem well made but they are made of felt so how much pounding can they take we'll have to see. The adhesive seems to hold on well but it wasn't difficult to take them off once. I don't think you'll be able to remove them too many times and have them stick but at least you know you aren't attaching them permanently.
So if you've been looking for a way to quiet those drums, this is a good product. I could see a better solution come along but right now these get the job done.
