This cooler does its job well. I avoid using the auto feature because the typical failure point on coolers is usually the thermal switch.
I conducted two different tests.
1. I left my xbox next to the TV in the open with the cooler turned on and set to high speed. After a 2.5 hour game session the xbox was warm to the touch but not even close to the temperature it was without the cooler and nothing that I am personally concerned about.
2. Moved the xbox to a cabinet in the entertainment center (where I initally wanted it but space restriction made it heat up too much). There is about 2 inches on each side and 5 inches above for room so its a relatively small space for the xbox to be in. Once again the cooler was turned on and set to high. After about 3 hours (lost track of time playing) it was barely warmer that in the open.

Seems to be a very good cooler(not much noise than builtin optical drive, even in high setting).
The fitment is snug(just wish the plastic frame extended a bit in the back to provide even better
support). The cooling fans are of sleeve bearing type, but should not be an issue for the intermittent
duty of gaming. The fans are located right on the spot where the intake vent is on xbox 360 slim(just-
after the hdd bay). The power save mode seems to depend on a thermistor that is on the grill facing
the xbox slim's single exhaust fan/vent. Was missing the usb cable to connect to xbox, but took that
as a blessing, and used one of those dual usb Y-cable meant for portable hdd's(thereby distributing the
power draw, preventing any future issues with usb ports). In general this is a very well made and
thought out high quality cooler, that should satisfy everyday cooling for xbox slim(Suggest to use
it in the full on(either low or high), esp. if...Read more

I honestly bought this thinking it would help the temps a little but WOW!!! Unexpected. Prior to this, I noticed that after about an hour of Tiger Woods The Masters, it would get a little choppy, any game in general but noticable on The Masters. Now, three solid hours and no more chop.
A friend of mine asked me what it was when he was over. After telling him about it, he wondered if it would help with the chopping that he would get in Madden. I loaned it to him to find out and he returned it the next day saying he ordered one. He said it stopped the choppiness in Madden.
I would say that is a success...Now for the disclaimer...Hopefully, your Xbox is not right next to you, because regardless of what some may say, it is just shy of an Apache Helicopter taking off.
