Summary: Crushing dissapointment 2010-08-29
Comment: Oh, I was so excited when I saw this headset. See, I have a small head, but not child sized, so over the top headsets are either likely to slowly slide off or be too tight. I also have small ears, so the earbud included on this communicator is perfect for me.
It looks really cool and it worked for exactly one minute before everything went terribly wrong.
The people I was playing with said the mic made me sound like a Dalek that even the other Daleks wouldn't be able to understand, causing them to label me as "imperfect" and exterminate me with extreme prejudice. Or at least that's what one of them told me later when I went back to using a different headset, because I couldn't make out what they were saying to me either.
Throat mics are a viable technology to send your voice clearly to other people, I've met people who use them for paintball several years ago. I got this one for $20, which seemed like a good price at the time... However, after examining the construction and experiencing the performance, I'm guessing the markup between the cost to manufacture and the retail prices is pretty huge.
I'm very disappointed. Mad Catz used to be my favorite third party peripheral maker. It's very sad to see them come to this.

Summary: it's a mediocre purchase 2010-04-19
Comment: Great idea, and not bad for the money. Just know that the volume on your tv set or on your stereo system needs to be turned down or you and everyone else in your lobby will be enjoying some tasty feedback.
The mute button it too small for my liking as well.

Comment: I saw this and thought wow, that looks cool. Then i got it and put in on and plugged into my controler and tryed to play and i was like, wow this doesnt work at all...Seemed like fun when i saw it but never actually worked quite right. Id return it if it wasnt such a pain in the arse. My friends see the throat mic and tell me how they are going to go get one and swiftly talk them out of it.

Summary: Cool concept but only fair functionality 2010-04-10
Comment: When I ordered this MW2 throat mic communicator I was expecting the communication quality that i got with the original microsoft headset. I was told by a retailer that the ear bud sound and mic quality were excellent. when i got it the ear bud fits snugly inside my ear (which took some getting used to) but now I prefer that to the original xbox headset earpiece. It sounds really great! The downside is that quite often I am told by other gamers on xbox live that I am difficult to understand. Now I don't really understand how a "neck mic" works differently than a regular one but I think that is chink in the armor of its design...that and the ergonomics of the mute switch are poor. It is so small and SHARP (digs into my finger when I switch it) that I find myself avoiding using it almost all the time.
In conclusion I would say that the MW2 Communicator needs to be redesigned. In its current form i would just go get the similarly priced and familiar original xbox one. Its a cool idea that needs to be refined to really be preferred.
p.s. it makes a better cellphone head set than xbox communicator, the throat mic shield the wind from it and the audio problems experienced with xbox live aren't there when being used on a cellphone. it was whisper sensitive and ear bud audio was excellent. great for driving but you will probably scare people if you are walking around on the street with a throat mic on.

Comment: the mic is way to sensitive you cant use with surround sound or have your tv very loud or your friends with hear everything on the game through your mic
