Follow-up to 2009's blockbuster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops breaks new ground in the Call of Duty series and the video game industry at large by delving into the not-so cold conflicts of the Cold War.
Inspired by the experiences of real Black Ops soldiers of the era, the missions of Call of Duty: Black Ops takes you to a wide variety of settings, ranging from snowbound mountain strongholds in historical Soviet held territories, to the jungles and urban settings of Vietnam War era SE Asia. Throughout all, care has been taken to maintain the traditional essence of Call of Duty style combat, while also introducing new types of action that add to the game play experience. Additional features include co-op, versus and team-based multiplayer options, new vehicles like the SR-71 Blackbird and lethal new weapons such as explosive-tipped crossbows.

Finally something new for the Call of Duty series., = Fun: This review is from: Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened Edition (Video Game) I know that lots of people loved MW2 but lots didnt also. modern warfare 1 and cod world at war were awesome games but MW 2 felt lacking to me although I did really enjoy the game. This game just blew me away. Its not modern warfare and its not world war 2 its like a mix to me. Graphics: The graphics are awesome despite what other people have posted. They are very crisp and clean if running on high definition. ( I dont know how it looks on standard ) They are not like Modern warfare 2 graphics they have a different and welcome feel to them. Why does some people feel that everything should look like Modern warfare 2? If people were honest with everyone in these reviews instead of just wanting to bash Treyarch they would tell you that the graphics are different than Modern Warfare 2 but still stunning. Modern warfare 2 has great graphics but they just arnt as crisp and clean as black opps. At the moment that I am writing this review there are some bugs that they are working on and many that they have fixed, it is a fun game to play online and zombies if that is your thing (more fun to play with friends), they have just released a new map pack add on as of Feb. 1 2011 for the xbox 360 platform running a cost of 1200 Microsoft points which adds another zombies map and 4 additional multiplayer maps, but be cautious if you buy this used as if the person has used the download code you will not get the maps for free or the avatar item and in fact will be better off buying the original since all you will get is the game in the metal case with the medal medallion. The campaign is well made though. Multiplayer: Spawning is a joke at times. I get spawn killed a lot, still, and its been out for awhile this game. So, I don't think they will ever get it right. The maps are OK. Sniping is not a good option on many of the maps unless your playing hardcore. The hit markers are way off still, at times it takes a full magazine to stop someone. But, again, nothing new, all COD's are like that. Zombies Much better maps! I play it as often as online play but its annoying when you get in a room with a host who leaves 20 minutes into the game and you have to start all over. Also, after level 15 it starts to get boring especially since there is no end in sight. But, its still a ton of fun. Overall, worth the money but not what I expected.
