Asura's Wrath is an Action game in which players take on the role of the demigod Asura, and take on his quest for justice and revenge against the divine powers that cast him from heaven. The game utilizes a "Beat-em Up" gameplay mechanic and an episodic narrative storyline rooted in Asian mythology and sci-fi traditions. Additional features include: a range of unique enemies, planetary sized bosses, a second playable character and a devastating attack system.

Story

Long ago in the realm of Shinkoku, eight deities known as "The Eight Guardian Generals" battled to protect civilization from a destructive force known only as Gohma. Asura was one of the most prominent of this group. During the victory celebration, the Emperor of Shinkoku was assassinated in a sinister plot and the blame was placed on Asura. In the middle of the commotion, Asura's wife was also murdered and his daughter kidnapped. With even his brother-in-law and rival Yasha turning against him, Asura was banished from Shinkoku. Awoken by a voice after 12,000 years, Asura vows revenge on all those who have betrayed him.

Combining intense combat with a seamless player-controlled narrative, Asura's Wrath introduces a brand new style of action game. Players will control Asura in a blend of action and cinematic sequences taking an active role in the gameplay direction.

Asura's Wrath finds Asura facing off against numerous distinct enemies, including planetary sized bosses. Through a mix of range attacks and visceral close quarter action players will fill Asura's 'Burst Gauge,' unleashing the full force of his rage and delivering devastating attacks on those who betrayed him. Asura's story of revenge is told through episodic gameplay, taking the player on a journey of highs and lows and adopting a structure that is similar to a TV drama series.

People are either gonna love or hate this game, simple as that. Play the demo, it is definitely an accurate representation of what you are in store for. If you love anime like I do, well this is basically an anime, episodes and all, that involves the viewer, and makes the epic moments feel that much more epic, because you are instructed to press certain buttons. For instance, when Asura is punching rapidly, you may be instructed to press b rapidly. It really makes you feel the energy and emotions of the character. There's a little energy shooting and free-fighting too, that you could compare to any hack and slash, but this barely ever happens. The graphics are sweet and everything from the story to the visuals are over-the-top. Is it worth full price? No, you should wait a bit for a drop in price. I'm rating it 5, b/c Asura's Wrath accomplishes everything it sets out to do and then some. Definitely not a game for gamers, if that makes any sense, although maybe a gamer would find the...Read more

First of all calling this a game might be the wrong way of describing it. This is more like an interactive anime. I was a little hesitant at first but was pleasently suprised mid way thru the game. You play as Asura, a demi god who was set up for killing the emperor and banished from the other gods. You spend the game taking your revenge on them. I'm not usually a fan of anime but i liked this game i started getting wrapped in the story pretty quick. each chapter is played out like an episode of an anime show. the only downfall i can think of was you spent way too much time watching and not playing. Also the game over used QTE's. I would recomend this game for fans of anime. Hardcore gamers may not get into this as your mostly watching a show and every once in a while hitting buttons or playing a quick section in between long cut scenes. Overall a great interactive anime !!
